Wembley stardom for Selby boy

A seven-year-old footballer from the Selby area joined with the stars as he walked out with the England team onto Wembley’s hallowed turf last Friday.

Oscar Bromley, who plays for Thorpe United U8s and attends Hambleton Primary School, had a fantastic day out with his family after entering – and winning – a national competition via McDonald’s website Kickstart to find eleven young mascots for the 2014 World Cup qualifier.

And he went onto the pitch with Michael Carrick, immediately behind captain Wayne Rooney and Joe Hart, before watching his heroes defeat San Marino 5-0.
